We have an ERP solution based on Sybase DB in our company. Most of our orders for wholesale clients are taken eiher by phone or in the shop. We want to help our sales personal become more mobile, without the need to return to the desktop to finish the order. Software we use is Windows only so it can run on tablet PCs at best, and it assumes wired LAN connection to server.
We need a J2ME app that will run on a smartphone equipped with an SD or bluetooth barcode scanner. Application should connect to the DB and retrieve table with articles, table with prices, table with product quantities and table with clients. It should update this information on a configurable interval.
Using this information the application should be able to make a proforma invoice that will be sent back to the database. From that point we can continue the process on the desktop computer (make the invoice from proforma invoice and print it or discard it if customer changes its mind).
The input of Clients is done using the adressbook in the smatphone.
The input of articles should be possible in 3 ways:
- barcode scan
- typing the barcode
- drilling through categories of articles
The operator should be able to choose the price list for the customer or enter a custom discount rate. Our list of clients also holds their discount % (example ACME Co. has 10% discount automatically calculated in the document, and this should be available in the program too).
